Sea Changes

On Thursday morning we thought about how a project like Stargazy changes lives. Andrew H explained why we use the phrase "sea change" to mean a really big change. Bill talked about how he finds driftwood which may have travelled thousands of miles across the sea, and how many stories such simple objects carry.

Choir Evening

On Wednesday evening everyone gathered at the Halfway Inn to experience a traditional Cornish male voice choir singing some of their favourite songs. A memorable evening.

Coastguard training

We learned about the work of the Coastguard - and the importance of volunteering (everyone in the Coastguard is a volunteer, but still very professional in their work). We practised using some of their equipment and rescued Leo from an accident!

We started with a nice walk through Millbrook to get to know each other and talking about the symbols what the guys brought with them. The most members was involved at the Star Gazy Boat Project. This Seminar is organized by Momentum and the "Arbeiterkammer Tirol ".After that we were travelling to Cawsand&Kingsand to meet Malcolm this Situation was filmed by James S. and Andrew, he was suprised that we are so many People. We helped him the lift some boats and shot a net what some guys are going to clean tomorrow.

Wir starteten mit einen Spaziergang durch Millbrook, um die anderen Teilnehmer des Seminars näher kennen zu lernen und sprachen über ihr Symbol was die Teilnehmer mitbrachten. Die meisten Teilnehmer sind involviert im Projekt The Star Gazy Boat Project. Dieses Seminar wurde von Momentum und von der Arbeiterkammer Tirol organisiert. Nach dem Spaziergang gingen wir alle nach Cawsand&Kingsand (UK) um Malcolm zu treffen, diese aufeinandertreffen wurde von James S. und Andrew gefilmt. Malcolm war überrascht, dass so viele alte Teilnehmer des Projekts "The Star Gazy Boat Project", hier sind. Wir halfen ein Boot ins Wasser zu tragen und ein Netz auszuwerfen, das dann einige Freiwillige säubern werden.

What Is Stargazy?

Stargazy is a boat renovation project based in Cawsand, Cornwall

 

The ‘Star Gazy’ initiative has a proven potential opportunity to give a small group of young people facing significant challenges the chance to learn some new, practical skills at the same time as developing their appreciation of being citizens in a wider Europe.

 

This project came as a direct result of our past two Star Gazy Boat Projects realized in 2011.

 

The projects have made an important impact into young people's life and motivated us to go for another 2 projects. The final reason to launch Star Gazy Boat Project III and IV is, that we got 2 old boats donated. These two boats should benefit the local community but also support the learning and development of the coming volunteers.

 

The Ruckenwind methodology for engaging with young people from backgrounds of severely restricted opportunity in international work, has been developed over the last six years and now has recognition for its achievements right across the European Union.
